Join Awana!
We are so excited to start our second year of Awana at Southmont! We want to help your child learn about the Bible and apply biblical truths to their life, but the ultimate spiritual training comes from you. Awana will be a tool you can use to help shepherd your child as they grow. Each night we will begin with our large group were we will have pledges, announcements, and worship. The kids will then move to game time, small group, and finish up in our large group again for awards and any further announcements. We will be offering the kids a snack during the night, but you will want to be sure they have dinner before they come.
Fees: $20.00 per child
The Awana Fee will help cover cost for your child’s books and awards for the year. Each child will receive a workbook and Awana t-shirt or Vest.

Explore the Bible
Dear Parents,
This week kids began using a new curriculum in Sunday School Explore the Bible. Sunday we started a six-week study of the Book of 1 Samuel. First Samuel is in the division of Old Testament History and a part of the genre of history. This week’s Bible story tells about Hannah. Hannah desperately wanted to have a child. While on their yearly trip to the tabernacle located at Shiloh, Hannah poured out her heart to the Lord. She vowed that if the Lord would give her a son, she would give him back to the Lord. The Lord heard Hannah’s prayer and answered it by giving Hannah a son. Hannah named her son Samuel. Later, she took Samuel to Shiloh to live and serve God at the tabernacle. Hannah had more children, but each year she would make a robe for Samuel and give it to him when she traveled to Shiloh to worship God. Check out the discussion questions and the Family Bible Skill on the back of this week’s Family Card to review this week’s Bible story with your family.
