Music Ministry

Two services, two styles, one heart for worship.

Music Ministry

From traditional hymns to a full contemporary worship band, Southmont's Music Ministry leads two services focused on praising a holy and living Savior.

In Worship

Traditional Music & Choir

The 9:30 service is Southmont’s traditional worship gathering — the adult choir, the historic Hackett organ, and hymns that have shaped generations of believers.

Our traditional music program isn’t just for adults. Youth and children’s choirs give the next generation a place to learn to worship through music from an early age, often joining the adult choir for special services throughout the year.

If you have not been in a traditional service for a while, expect congregational singing rather than performance. The choir leads from the loft, the organ carries the room, and most of the hymns are ones the people around you have known by heart for years.

  • Adult Choir
Leads the 9:30 service week by week, and carries the larger seasonal services through the year.
  • Youth Choir
A place for students to serve musically and to learn parts alongside the adults they sing with.
  • Children’s Choir
Where the youngest singers learn to worship through music from an early age.

Contemporary Worship Gathering

The 10:45 service is Southmont’s contemporary worship gathering, led by the church’s own worship band.

Expect a full band sound — drums, guitars, and vocals — leading songs the congregation can sing rather than simply listen to. The room is darker, the songs are newer, and the volume is higher than the hour before it.

Same heart, different sound. Whether you’re drawn to the reverence of the organ or the energy of a live band, both services exist for the same purpose: pointing hearts to Christ.

Sing or Play With Us

Both services are led by people from this congregation who show up week after week — singers, instrumentalists, and the volunteers who make Sunday morning happen.

Whether you have sung in choirs for forty years or have never done it in front of anyone, there is room in one of the two services. The best first step is simply to ask.
