Privacy Policy
How this website handles your information, in plain language.
Effective 3 September 2026
Southmont Baptist Church runs this website to tell you about the church and to make it easy to get in touch. This page explains what information the site collects, what we do with it, and the few outside services it relies on. We have tried to write it plainly.
What we collect, and why
When you fill in a form. The contact, prayer-request, missions and newsletter forms ask for your first and last name, your email address, and whatever you choose to write. We use that only to respond to you, to pray for you, or to add you to the newsletter list. Each submission is stored on the website and emailed to the church office.
Prayer requests go to the church office and pastoral staff. If you tick the box asking for a request to be kept confidential, it is not shared beyond the pastoral staff.
Newsletter sign-ups are added to the list by a member of staff, by hand. You can ask to be removed at any time by replying to any newsletter or emailing the office.
Staff accounts. Church staff sign in to parts of this site to keep events, sermons and their own profiles up to date. Signing in sets a cookie on that person's own device so the site remembers them. Visitors are never asked to sign in.
What we do not do
- We do not run analytics or advertising trackers, and we set no tracking cookies for visitors.
- We do not sell, rent or trade your information with anyone.
- We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under thirteen through this website. Enrolment for our children's programmes is handled in person, not online.
Giving online
Online giving is handled by Shelby Giving, our giving partner. When you give, your card or bank details are entered on Shelby's secure pages and go directly to them. They never pass through this website, and we never see them. Shelby's own privacy policy applies to that transaction.
Outside services this site uses
A few things on the site come from other companies. When your browser loads them, that company can see your device's internet address, as with any website.
- YouTube — our sermon recordings are hosted on YouTube. A recording does not load anything from YouTube until you press play; from that moment YouTube's privacy policy applies.
- Google Fonts — the typefaces on the site are served by Google.
- Google Maps — the “get directions” link opens Google Maps.
- Microsoft 365 — the church's email runs on Microsoft 365, so anything a form emails to the office is held there.
Our services are recorded
Sunday services are livestreamed and recorded, and the recordings are published on YouTube and on this site. The cameras are pointed at the platform, but people in the congregation may occasionally appear. If you would rather not, sit toward the back or let an usher know.
How long we keep things
Form submissions are kept for as long as we need them to respond to you, and are deleted from the website periodically. Prayer requests are treated the same way. Newsletter details are kept until you ask to be removed.
Your choices
You can ask us at any time to show you what we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. Email info@southmont.org or call the church office at 940-240-3150, and we will sort it out.
Changes to this page
If we change how the website handles information, we will update this page and change the date at the top.
